With short deadline, and minimal resources, we decided that Embergen was the perfect software to use for this indie film. Embergen gave us the perfect amount of control while also having an easy to use pipeline. Being able to render out multiple passes was a massive plus when it came to the compositing department. Knowing that compositing wouldn't have a lot of resources in-footage for tracking our elements on the head, we knew that giving them as many passes as possible was imperative. We also had a 3D scan of the actors head to give the fire good shape and form around the actor. This helped from a story standpoint as the actor is a magical ghost, and the fire simply emits from the head, and isn't created by any kind of fuel source. Having the fire show in every nook and crevice of the face really helped sell that it was being generated my some unknown force.
