The Book of Life
Senior Light/Comp Artist
All light and comp. This was one of my favorite sequences to work on. Great characters and strong light sources with a low-key style. These also acted as the key shots for another artist to follow for the reverse camera angles. Quite a bit of look dev to get the desired effects and look on the piles of gold coins and flame pit.
Tools:
Houdini, Mantra, Nuke
0:48-0:51
Rock Dog
Senior Light/Comp Artist
All light and comp. Was a fun shot with some particular lighting challenges getting the angle of light through the fog and the desired illumination on the characters and shadow direction.
Tools:
Maya, Arnold, Nuke
0:51-0:53
Rock Dog
Senior Light/Comp Artist
All light and comp. This was a key shot to define the look for this sequence from this camera angle. A challenging setup creating the desired look of the fog and the look of the headlights while also getting each light source to cast in a desirable way on the characters.
Tools:
Maya, Arnold, Nuke
0:53-0:55
Rock Dog
Senior Light/Comp Artist
All light and comp. This was a one-off shot that created a fun challenge of finding an interesting lighting setup for an otherwise unexciting part of the set. Had to look dev and time the effect of the brake lights on the car.
Tools:
Maya, Arnold, Nuke
0:55-1:00
Thor

All lighting, some look dev and FX placement. There were a lot of moving parts to these shots. I was tasked with choosing FX sims, sizing and placing them, populating with debris, creating mock geo of the town for shadow passes, and of course lighting the Destroyer himself as well as the cars and beam effect.
Tools:
Maya, Mental Ray

Senior Light/Comp Artist
All light and comp. I had the pleasure and honor of lighting the final shot in the movie towards the end of production.
