The Book of Life
Lighting / Compositing Artist
The flaming, giant skeleton bull was a huge challenge. The fire sim was often broken, and required far too many resources to fix. We ended up using a huge array of compositing techniques to blend frames of the fire to make it appear as if it was a continuous sim.

The Book of Life
Lighting / Compositing Artist
The Land of the Remembered was a joy to work in, and a terrifying, difficult challenge as well. We all worked incredibly hard to achieve Jorge's vision on a shoestring budget.

Lighting / Compositing Artist
San Angel and its outskirts provided a dynamic range of lighting scenarios, from full daylight to full moon. The Sergio Leone feel of the town was a blast to develop.

Rock Dog
Lighting / Compositing Artist
For the stage lighting in this scene, I wrote a fully-fledged step-sequencer and control rig which allowed two non-animators to choreograph more than 300 lights in a couple of weeks.

Rock Dog
Lighting / Compositing Artist
The white guitar room in these shots was a big challenge -- flat lighting, low saturation, and an implication of a huge amount of frosted glass (difficult to render)

Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem
Lighting / Compositing Artist
Elements from Minion Mayhem include portions of the ride and the instructional videos which play while parkgoers stand in line.
Tools:
Maya / Renderman / NUKE

Free Birds
Lighting / Compositing Artist
Free Birds was my first feature film, and was a blast. Unfortunately, the shots in which I was given the opportunity to do master lighting for were all removed from the film.
Tools:
Maya / Renderman / NUKE

Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas
Lighting / Compositing Artist
A Mammoth Christmas was a tremendous opportunity to stretch our creative capabilities, as we had very little budget and needed to match the quality and look of a major feature film.

Maya / Renderman / NUKE
