GUARDIANS OF GA’HOOLE
My favourite shot of the film (biased).. if Kludd has his own rock band I'd like this to be the album cover.

GUARDIANS OF GA’HOOLE
This was the first crowd scene we lit in the show. Each bird at full LOD has many millions of feathers.
As senior lighter, I took this shot from our lead, Etienne Marc, through to final.
There were over 30 revisions on the shot as we improved art direction and also the technical challenges.

GUARDIANS OF GA’HOOLE
Working closely with Alex Fry & the FX dept. at Animal, I strove to create a subtly sombre feel in accord with Grant Freckelton's vision.
Silhouettes needed to read clearly in the fog with contrast provided by warmer rim lighting.
The shot comes at sorrowful point in the film when a traitorous character returns with bad news for our heroes.

GUARDIANS OF GA’HOOLE
Very much enjoyed working on this shot.
I love the way in which the rays reach to the constellations, which in turn trace out the golden designs on the roof.
There were a variety of 2D generated FX used in Nuke to create the mattes for the shimmering golden lines.

GUARDIANS OF GA’HOOLE
It was fantastic to work Grant on this shot. There are a variety of implied light sources at play with the forest fire, the moon and some mystical key lights across Ezylryb's determined brow.
The differing materials of metal, the eyes and feather was great to work with.
