A selection of my visual effects film work
0:04-0:11
Guardians of the Galaxy
Senior Animator
Coming from a character animation background, I was trusted with the first facial shot of Rocket in the film. The facial system was still under development at the time and this helped establish the priorities of creature team and the style for animation.

Guardians of the Galaxy
Senior Animator
In this digi-double shot, I had to blend matchmove animation at the very start with a violent keyframed action. By using rough particle effects, I was able to sell the idea to the vfx sup and it was quickly approved.

Guardians of the Galaxy
Senior Animator
A quiet character moment between Rocket and Groot that was unfortunately edited out before making it through to lighting.
0:32-0:42
Ted 2
Senior Animator
Ted is a great character for an animator. It was key to stay true to the established animation style from the first movie, while maximizing the emotional appeal from a limited set of expressions.

Ted 2
Senior Animator
Shots started from mocap data provided by the director. I would typically knock down the jitteriness and manipulate the timing of the mocap, then amplify or add specific acting direction, facial and hand animation.
1:17-1:27
Ted 2
Senior Animator
I was trusted with this entire emotional sequence between Ted and Tami-Lynn. I animated it to a final pass until several rounds of story changes at the end of production delayed approval.
1:29-1:39
Ted 2
Senior Animator
By keeping a clean constraint setup and multiple versions of animation live within each shot, it was easy to show multiple versions without major impact on the schedule. Luckily, most of my original animation made it back into the final edit.
