Mighty Yeti Studios is a creator-owned indie animation studio specializing in kids and family entertainment. We're seeking a highly skilled Blender Generalist to join our team for animated series projects. All positions are remote freelance/part-time independent contractor roles.


The ideal candidate will be proficient in a broad range of 3D skills within Blender, including modeling, texturing, rigging, animation, lighting, and rendering. You will work closely with various departments to ensure the successful execution of our animated series while maintaining the creative vision of the project.


Responsibilities:

  • Handle a wide variety of 3D tasks within Blender, including modeling, texturing, shading, rigging, lighting, animation, and rendering.
  • Collaborate closely with the Art Director and animation team to ensure assets and animations meet the creative and technical requirements of the project.
  • Work across different areas of production, from pre-visualization and asset creation to final animation and rendering.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and optimize models, textures, and animations for efficient production workflows.
  • Maintain consistent quality across all assets and scenes, ensuring a cohesive visual style and adherence to project specifications.
  • Utilize Blender’s tools and features to create character rigs, dynamic simulations, and procedural workflows when required.
  • Contribute creative and technical input to the look and feel of the series, pushing the boundaries of Blender’s capabilities for high-quality animation production.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining asset libraries and workflows to improve production efficiency.


Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience working with Blender in animation, games, or VFX production.
  • Strong proficiency in modeling, texturing, shading, lighting, and rendering within Blender.
  • Experience with character rigging and animation workflows in Blender.
  • (Optional) Familiarity with Blender’s physics simulations, particle systems, and procedural generation tools.
  • Ability to optimize assets and render settings for efficient production while maintaining high visual quality.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues throughout the production pipeline.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a team-oriented attitude.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working on animated series or film projects.
  • (Optional) Knowledge of integrating Blender assets into other production pipelines like Maya or Unreal Engine.
  • Experience with Blender add-ons and plugins that enhance production efficiency (e.g., Node Wrangler, Rigify, or FLIP Fluids).
  • Strong artistic eye for composition, color, and storytelling through animation.
  • Self-driven with a history of creating solo animated short projects.
