Lindsey Stirling's "Til' The Lights Go Out" music video required a lot of unique smoke elements on a tight budget, making Blender the only option available for what we needed with the resources we had. A lot of the smoke FX needed to have their own personality as well as blending in the background well. We needed something that had the perfect balance of uniqueness while also not taking away from the main performers. Blenders minimal smoke system required us to be very creative on how we generate smoke. Whether that be using curves, particles, and interesting collision objects to create unique fantasy style smoke effects.
