For this scene we had to make Frances McDormand's head turn in to that of an elephant. The POV is from that of a person hallucinating. We researched elephants extensively and then combined our findings with certain aspects of the actress trying to maintain the feel of her mannerisms and her eyes in particular. Comped and Supervised.

We had to make it look as if Superman were in the high Himalayas. We added matte paintings in the far BG, removed trees in the practical mountains, added snow. We used many FX passes combined with practical elements to create the blowing snow and atmosphere enveloping him.

We had to do a transformation, but only had one plate of the actor doing the action. We matchmoved him first, and then created a CG werewolf following his action. The transition was achieved through using the CG werewolf combined with a render of the actor projected onto the same CG, and then finally the plate. It was finessed and timed out in comp

I comped this shot, but I also oversaw the VFX on set and in-house for the show. We had to engineer the effect and work with the actress and production team to make it work. The shots required multiple passes of the actress playing the parts, we would evaluate certain details for lighting and perspective depending on the specific shot.

This X Ray sequence required a great deal of look dev and design. We only had a vague idea to go from and generated the look based on research into different types of xrays and imaging processes. In the end the CG passes were used as a basis to apply a comp look, The look itself was achieved mainly in comp.

These shots needed face wounds/burns added to them. The severity progresses throughout the sequence to become worse. It was all a brute force 2D approach where we painstakingly tracked and warped the burns and wounds onto the actor's faces.
