The Crowd Technical Supervisor is responsible for managing the technical aspects of the Crowd department on shows both with crowd artists and pipeline. Support the transition to Houdini and NGP.


Key responsibilities

  • Crowd technical supervisor reports to the CFX Head of Department, developing pipeline tools and workflows for crowds at both show and studio levels.
  • Explore and implement future workflows and ideas to build the new crowd system of the future 
  • Work with the crowds team and pipeline to transition to Houdini and USD 
  • Collaborate with the crowds artist to solve technical problems on shows
  • Define and establish best practices for crowd specific pipeline disciplines
  • Collaborate and communicate with supervisors and producers in order to implement efficient and effective ways to integrate crowd pipeline and problem solve if any issues for feature film development
  • Propose creative approaches and solutions for any specific shots
  • Collaborate with the departments to and from the crowd department to optimize workflow and pipeline


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum five (5) years of crowd experience in a feature film production setting
  • Experience with Houdini and/or Golaem is required
  • Maya knowledge is required
  • Experience with other Houdini based crowd simulation tools preferred 
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision; strong troubleshooting/problem-solving ability
  • Understanding of all parts of post-production pipeline with a focus on Animation/rigging
  • MotionBuilder and Max knowledge is a plus
  • Python / C++ experience (desired)
  • Good problem solver


Salary Range: $100,000 - $180,000 a year
