Tequila Works is looking for a sharp eye and talented Lighting Specialist. The successful candidate will design and put quality lighting effects directly in an ultimate generation game editor. He or she will join the Art team and work collaboratively with other departments, such as Environment Design or VFX.


We are based in Madrid, but currently working remotely.


Responsibilities

  • Create gameplay and in-game cinematic lighting based on given art direction.
  • Design lighting systems that will support the atmosphere and gameplay effects.
  • Work with the Art Director and concept artists to dress up environments and set up final lighting rigs.
  • Understand the game design and artistic direction documents to get to know the challenges that will impact game lighting.
  • Verify the quality of the lighting once the elements are imported into the game and make any necessary improvements.
  • Ensure that lighting assets meet performance budgeting requirements.
  • Fix the lighting bugs spotted by QAs.
  • Stay current with industry lighting techniques.


Requirements / Skills

  • Experience setting up real time lighting Engine: well versed in Unreal 4 Real-time Performance.
  • Art-related degree and/or comparable professional experience.
  • Understanding of composition and the ability to enhance mood with lighting.
  • Effectively use Color Grading and Post Effects to enhance the final environment.
  • A strong portfolio that demonstrates experience modeling, texturing, and set dressing environments for games.
  • Working knowledge of creating lighting within a pre-baked light-map pipeline.
  • Extensive knowledge of color theory and strong sense of light and shadow.
  • Proficient in Maya, 3D Max or Blender.
  • Have an excellent communication and team-work skills.
