Flying Bark Productions is working on exciting projects such as the highly anticipated Avatar: The Last Airbender feature film, Netflix's Stranger Things animated series, Marvel Studios’ What If…?, Disney Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, as well as our production Tales From Outer Suburbia by Shaun Tan. 


Our Los Angeles Studio is looking for an experienced Series Layout Supervisor to be responsible for reviewing and noting the Sydney- and Madrid-based CG Layout departments’ shots, following the style of the existing series and maintaining the integrity of the production. We're looking for someone who is passionate about animation and is available to start ASAP!

You will:

  • Work closely with the CG Series Producer, and other department Supervisors to complete work in accordance with the style of the show  
  • Review shots on a daily basis, and note them for composition and continuity in order to achieve the goals of story, match to SB where possible, and achieve the complexity needs of the series.
  • In addition to noting shots, candidate may need to open Maya scenes remotely, reposition camera and/or layout a scene for reference, in order to cut down on back and forth notes.
  • Attend Layout handouts with Sydney and Madrid layout teams and offer insight.
  • Attend internal storyboard pitches and discuss any layout concerns, and present solutions for direction / composition.
  • Balance multiple priorities and ensure that all internal and external deadlines are met for the Layout department  
  • Support and mentor the layout team, focusing on strengths within the team when assigning workload revisions
  • Resolve problems or concerns within the Layout department in a productive and positive manner, escalating challenges when necessary 


About you:

  • 5+ years of previous experience as an Layout Supervisor on a CG production / series  
  • Must have strong knowledge of Camera / Digital Cinematography Principles
  • Strong working knowledge of Photoshop, Shotgun, Maya, Premiere (Blender knowledge is a plus)
  • Must be able to work in a collaborative environment and take direction well  
  • Able to work within a team as well as to work independently as required  
  • Solid understanding CG layout, perspective, and scale principles  
  • Must have an understanding of 2D to 3D interpretation. 
  • Solid understanding of camera lenses and cinematography.
  • Effective problem solving skills, solution oriented  
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment and take direction  
  • Strong attention to detail  
  • Excellent communication skills  
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines
