We are seeking a CG Lead for an interim position to cover parental leave, with the potential to transition into an extended or permanent role. The candidate must be based in Berlin or willing to relocate. At PFX the CG Lead is a key player in creating visually stunning VFX projects. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, on-time computer-generated elements that align with the creative vision. With a strong grasp of both the artistic and technical aspects of 3D workflows, the CG Lead leads the production process and collaborates with teams to achieve excellence in every shot.


What Awaits You:

  • Collaborate with the VFX Supervisor and Producer to understand project requirements, timelines, and resource needs.
  • Translate creative concepts into actionable plans for the CG team.
  • Provide technical leadership by staying informed on industry trends, technologies, and software advancements.
  • Evaluate project requirements and define tools, software, and workflows to optimize efficiency and quality.
  • Lead and mentor CG artists, ensuring their skills align with project demands.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment.
  • Review CG assets and shots to ensure they meet quality standards and align with the creative vision.
  • Implement feedback loops to enhance work-in-progress.
  • Resolve technical challenges and collaborate with Pipeline TDs to optimize workflows.
  • Act as a liaison between departments, ensuring clarity on project goals and requirements.
  • Identify team skill gaps and organize training to elevate technical and artistic capabilities.
  • Participate in recruitment to bring in top talent for the team.


What Makes You a Match:

  • Proven experience in the VFX industry with a solid understanding of CG production.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the VFX pipeline, from pre-production to final delivery.
  • Expertise in industry-standard tools such as Autodesk Maya, Houdini, and other CG software.
  • Advanced rendering skills with tools like Arnold, Karma, or Mantra.
  • Familiarity with compositing principles and tools like Nuke (a plus).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to guide and inspire a dynamic team.
  • A knack for balancing creative vision with technical constraints.
