PA/Coordinator/Assistant Color Timer/Senior Color Timer
Sony Pictures Imageworks
February 1996 - September 2003
Culver City, CA
As the Senior Colorist at Sony Pictures Imageworks, I was responsible for working directly with VFX Sups, DOP, and Directors on some of the biggest productions in Hollywood, utilizing Sony's proprietary compositing software with a color package that was crafted with my input and expertise. Responsibilities also included training junior colorists and coordinating my own schedule and grading sessions with clients.
Prior to my elevation to colorist, I excelled in my position as a Color Coordinator. In addition to performing some colorist duties as needed, I functioned as a liaison between the visual effects production staff and the color department. Also, I coordinated and corrected shots for 3rd party productions, enabling my department to operate as a standalone business. I worked closely with DOP, Directors and Editors, using strong interpersonal skills to develop working relationships with clients to meet or exceed the desired results. I was responsible for scheduling timing sessions and delivery for a large slate of multiple productions with hard deadlines and high expectations. I organized reference materials and client notes, often meeting with directors on location to get approvals.
Prior to my elevation to Color Coordinator, I was a Production Assistant for the show Starship Troopers at Sony Imageworks. My responsibilities included production support for the show, often as a liason between the VFX branch and the model shop Thunderstone. In this capacity, I learned that color coordination was needed, so I enthusiastically took on that responsibility and learned the techniques and computer skills necessary to accomplish the requested tasks. I was given the responsibility to coordinate color correction for the show full time before production was completed.
