The project was based on the object-oriented paradigm, and, specifically, the C++ programming language and OpenGL.
The project covered the following major areas of computer graphics fundamentals:
Fundamental Techniques: Hierarchy of graphics software, Using a graphics API.
Graphic Systems: Raster and vector graphics systems, Video display devices.
Coordinate systems – Homogeneous coordinates, Cartesian, Polar, Nonlinear Coordinate systems.
2D and 3D geometrical transformations: Affine transformations (scaling, rotation, translation), Projections.
Geometric Modeling: Graphic primitives – Points, Lines, Polygons, Triangles, Quads and etc.
Polygonal representation of 3D an 2D objects, Spatial subdivision techniques, Deformable models, Subdivision surfaces.
Coloring - Simple color models (RGB, HSB, CMYK),;
Basic Rendering : Light-source and material properties, Ambient, diffuse, and specular reflections, Texture mapping, environment map, ray tracing and anti-aliasing
Advanced Techniques: Z-buffer and frame buffer, color channels (a channel for opacity), transparency.
Computer Animation: Key-frame animation, Camera animation, Motion capture, Procedural animation
Visualization : Basic viewing and interrogation functions for visualization, Visualization of vector fields, Direct volume data rendering: ray-casting.
Virtual Reality : Stereoscopic display. Collision detection. Visibility computation. Interactive modeling.
