Constellation – In-House Generalist and Compositor
• The Lark - In-House Generalist and Compositor
• Damsel - In-House Generalist and Compositor
As an In-House Generalist and Compositor, I supported the VFX supervisor in Technical FX previs of Fluid dynamic effect creation across the episodic using Houdini. I also delivered Asset build and CG element for other INH Compositors for final and completed Dead Wood sequence with Asset build, texture, render and comp.
My tasks were: Assets build, Texturing, VFX Design, RnD, Fluid dynamics simulation, Look Development, Lighting and Compositing.
• Last Night in Soho – In-House Compositor
Research, Concept, Modelling, Pre-and Post Vis, look development, Rendering,VR representations of concept art, Sound Stage Layout in Maya and VR,
VFX Designer and Look Development
As a Lighter / Senior Compositor in charge of establishing a V-ray nuke pipeline and render Pipeline between Nuke and V-ray Standalone.
Look Development, Lighting, Rendering and Composite of shot and sequences to final.
Design Tools for interexchange of Assets, Shadier and Light rigs between Maya and Nuke.
Training of artist in V-ray nuke and the new pipe tools
Designing new efficiency driven techniques for compositing, lighting and rendering.
As a Look Development artist I was in charge of 4 key concepts: Kurse transformation, Kurse death, alien infection and the sky portals. Work included research; concept and look development; compositing animatics to demonstrate the timing and the effect; sequence layout for effects artists to refer to for timing and client reference; briefing FX artists; designing new efficiencydriven techniques for compositors and lighting TDs; building compositing templates for lighters; assisting with texturing and sculpting; developing new techniques to accomplish shots in Nuke without the requirement of 3D; and training compositing crew on templates and techniques.
As a look development artist I was assigned to create the main titles where layers of ice crack to reveal the Batman logo. I developed a 2D-only approach, which involved recreating the correct refraction and dispersion attributes of ice. As a senior compositor, I built a compositing template for a sequence of green screen shots, and set a look for the backgrounds for those shots. I also worked on the final delivery of the Gotham chase sequence.
I was assigned to the show for a short period to design an updated version of the iconic ‘fake head’ effect from the 1984 ‘Total Recall’. The brief was to design a original morphing effect between the heads of 3 different characters. After briefing the 3D artists on asset creation, I produced the morph solely in Nuke with a blend of vector displacement maps; optical flow maps; and geometry displacement.
I was brought in mid-way through the show to rework the design of various effects relating to the Tesseract, a cube of blue coalescing energy, and the film’s principal MacGuffin. I collaborated with the FX department on the look and animation of the Tesseract’s energy in the air, and built templates for artists to recreate the look in other shots and sequences. As a compositor I worked on the final battle sequence to help finish to show.
As a 2D sequence lead I oversaw 2 sequences to final. The work included preliminary research; look development of key shots; building templates; and briefing artists. I also worked closely with the visual effects supervisor in designing the Empire magazine cover for the client.
