Lecturer, Compositing for VFX

Teaching classes of up to 13 students the theory and practice of compositing, paint, rotoscoping and Visual Effects (VFX) Supervision. I write lesson plans and advise on course content and practices. I grade students and critique their work.
I am also the Visual Effects Supervisor on the feature film "A Dark Reflection", which the students are compositing as work experience.

Built the 2D department from scratch, growing it to 15+ compositors and roto artists. My role included interviewing and selecting candidates, negotiating rates, and conducting appraisals.
Projects included "Wrath of the Titans", "Cloud Atlas", and "Hunger Games: Catching Fire". Supervised VFX on some shows (including on-set supervision), and liased with directors and senior clients.

Lead teams of compositors and supervised on-set for feature films including "Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang" and "Narnia: Prince Caspian". Look development (progressing work to the director’s brief) and pipeline (establishing best practices and supporting software) for "Where the Wild Things Are" and "Batman: The Dark Knight".
Supervised 2D on "Tale of Despereaux", an animated feature. For this project I was responsible for hiring some of the 2D team, and creating and documenting processes and methodology.

Supervised and composited sequences for 18 films, including "Die Another Day", "Cold Mountain", "Pride & Prejudice", "Batman Begins", "Harry Potter" 3 and 4, and "Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason". Taught compositing techniques and created tools used throughout the facility.

Completed the title sequence for "Shipping News" (a baby morphing into Kevin Spacey), and composited shots for "K-19", "Chocolat", "Enigma" and "Tomb Raider". Developed wire, dust and scratch removal algorithms.

Working with a team of graphic designers to create sequences and programme titles including "Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends", "Jurassic Shark", and "Neanderthal". Responsibilities included working closely with the 3D department to ensure consistent design of elements across a range of sequences.
