Wormhole Sequence - War of the Worlds S3 This three-part sequence, originally 2590 frames, was re-timed (200%) and composited in NukeX. Outside Wormhole (Part 1): - A Maya CG multipass render formed the base of this segment. - Extensive compositing was performed to achieve the director's specific visual direction. - This involved adjustments to color grading, manipulation of individual render passes, and the addition of custom effects to create the desired otherworldly appearance. Inside Wormhole (Part 2): - Houdini was used to generate procedural cloud simulations. - These simulations were then composited to create the sensation of traveling through the wormhole. - Emphasis was placed on creating a sense of dynamic, swirling motion and a convincing sense of depth within the cloud environment. Derelict London (Part 3): - A Maya CG multipass render of derelict London provided the core element. - The surrounding environment and drone footage of London was substantially modified using 3D matte painting techniques. - 3D projections were used to integrate the matte-painted elements of the drone footage seamlessly with the CG London render, creating a unified and coherent scene.
