Michael Defeo's vast experience in film and commercial
production is unmatched! He started his art career in
prosthetic makeup design and stopmotion puppet
creation in the late 1980's for major New York
production houses. From there, he worked on major
Broadway shows designing and producing makeup and
props for six years. Blue Sky Studios was his home for
15 years. Creating the 3D Modeling and Sculpture
departments Michael was a key force at Blue Sky
working on feature films such as Ice Age 1,2,3,4,
Robots, Horton Hears a Who, Rio and Epic. Michael's
responsibilities include character design and sculpting,
modeler management and visual design.
In 2010 Michael left Blue Sky to pursue a freelance 3D
character development artist and is currently working
on the Lorax, Despicable Me2 and The Minions Movie. In 2013 Michael joined Illumination Entertainment to work full time.
