Plastic Wax is an award-winning animation studio specialising in the creation of premium digital content for the global video games and film industries.


We are at an exciting stage in our evolution and, due to growth, we are now seeking a talented VFX/CG Supervisor to help drive our success.

Reporting to the Creative Director, you will be responsible for taking a creative brief and translating it into the technical processes required across all departments and driving projects from concept development through to the finished product, in collaboration with the Art Director, Head of Production and others within Production. You will provide the technical direction and supervision throughout the show, whilst implementing best practices to ensure production efficiency and that projects meet the highest quality possible within the parameters of the production schedule and budget.


Main areas of responsibility involve: leading the development of flexible and efficient CG pipelines to meet creative and technical goals; problem solving issues as they arise and ensuring solutions are effective and coordinated in achieving desired outcomes; provide hands-on experience, tool development to guide and enable artists to work more effectively; provide effective leadership and coordination between departments in accordance with the schedule and follow-through of creative goals and technical solutions between various departments; provide key support to the Creative Director and Art Director including creative development phase; provide key support to the Heads of Department in providing technical guidance and direction; work closely alongside the Head of Production in the overall planning, resourcing and scheduling across the shows.


Ideally, you will have the following background and experience:

  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience leading teams in the animation industry on high end animation features, VFX and/or series production and strong understanding of the full CG production process from concept to delivery
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of CG including animation and VFX
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and people management skills
  • Motivated and flexible team leader who can inspire others
  • Willingness to adapt to changes in new software and technology as it applies to animation and the digital industry
  • Comfortable challenging established workflows and methods in order to evolve our production pipeline
  • Team oriented with a strong desire for collaborative participation in a team-based pipeline across multiple projects
  • Experience working with IT teams to manage network rendering and ensure pipeline design supports or accommodates significant files/bandwidth concerns
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and people management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and desire to deliver consistently high quality.
  • Well developed sense for composition, light, and color and excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work and lead within a strong team environment, willingness to share knowledge.
  • Excellent understanding of CG production pipeline
  • Strong combined creative and technical background
  • Great understanding of animation styles and techniques as well as a solid comprehension of animation production for television or film
