Gus Mendonça is a US based Freelance Concept Artist and Matte Painter for the entertainment industry with a strong focus on Games, Film, TV, Animation and Virtual Reality. Gus has dedicated his career to projects that are highly creative and that push the boundaries of visual design, technology and most importantly storytelling. During his career as a Concept Artist Gus Mendonça has designed for acclaimed franchises such as Star Wars, The Avengers, Halo, Gears of War, Dead Rising, Call of Duty, Need for Speed and Guild Wars to mention a few.
Gus grew up in the projects of a small town in Brazil and used his passion for the arts coupled with strong drive and work discipline to hone in his skills as a designer and kick-start a career that spans for over a decade now.
Gus has lived in Brazil, Portugal, Canada, Japan and the US, always focused on designing experiences that capture the imagination of audiences around the world.
While living in Canada Gus attended classes at Emily Carr University of Art + Design to push his skills in Industrial Design and Architecture and has continued to learn from many titans of the industry while having the privilege to work alongside them. Gus believes that when one chooses a career in the arts you are signing up for a lifetime of learning.
Gus now lives in Seattle, Washington and continues to work with Game Studios, Filmmakers, VFX House and Production Designers helping them bring their stories and experiences to life.
