I am currently a matchmover with nearly three years of industry experience living in Vancouver BC. I have worked for Framestore, Milk VFX and Gener8 on VFX tracking, layout and rotomation for features and TV as well as stereo conversion. I also spent eleven weeks in India training and assisting in the supervision of a matchmove team.
I was trained as a generalist and studied 3D CGI (modelling and animation) at Bournemouth University, which covered the uses of CGI for film, tv, games and advertising. Prior to this, I worked for three years as an architectural technician. I completed my BSc (Hons) Degree in 2012 with a first.
My aims are varied and while I enjoy tracking, I am open to work in other areas such as modelling and animation. I have become adept with MEL script, having designed multiple tools both simple and complex for use in tracking. These are mostly personal scripts which are created in my own time, but I freely disseminate them to those colleagues who have use of them.
I aspire towards developing a career that would allow me to work in as many areas of 3D as possible, whether this be in film, games, tv, or any other media.
Work History
Tracking Artist
Method Studios
July 2016 - Present
Matchmove Lead
Gener8 Media Corp
March 2016 - June 2016
Vancouver, Canada Area
As a matchmover at Gener8 my key role has been to track cameras for very quick turnover and build rough scene layouts.
Gener8 deals in stereo conversion. While this means there is a slightly looser error margin, so much of the information that you are provided with reflexively in a vfx pipeline is absent. Such information includes lens grids, camera information (focal length, film back, etc), survey information and more.
Furthermore, we are required to complete the final track to the vfx plate, which has often been cheated and transformed, adding a plethora of further problems to the mix.
In addition to my standard duties, I also build custom MEL tools for my department and spent several weeks in India training a department of new artists.
Since my supervisor left the company, I have taken on the role of department lead/supervisor. In my new role, I liase more directly with production and artists at our other facilities as well as being responsible for the quality margins of the work that comes through our office.

Matchmover
Framestore
July 2014 - August 2014
London, United Kingdom
While at Framestore, my primary duty was camera tracking for VFX shots. I worked at multiple sites and on a number of projects (listed on this page).
In addition to my standard tracking duties, I was occasionally required for character rotomation. The majority of this was done on 'Jupiter Ascending', but 'Guardians of the Galaxy' also had shots that required attention.

Milk Visual Effects
April 2014 - June 2014
London, United Kingdom
At Milk VFX. My primary task was to track cameras for vfx shots and build rough layouts.
In addition to this I was required for object tracking and very simple rotomation.
I spent small periods of time in charge of the department, while my colleagues were away, and was required to liase directly with production and keep production shots flowing until their return.
The majority of my work at this office was on Doctor Who.

Supplier Support Assistant
Walsall MBC
June 2013 - September 2013
Walsall, United Kingdom
This was primarily financial work using Oracle. It was my job to acquire and check bank details as well as setting up accounts for people who required payment through the borough council. As so many people are paid through the council it was laborious work, that involved liaising directly with suppliers and lengthy anti-fraud checks.
I was also responsible for making amendments to pre-existing supplier accounts, involving further checks with the aim of weeding out illegitimate claims.
During the course of this job I dealt with suppliers as large as international companies and as small as individual foster carers, and I was directly responsible for the payments to each.
Trainee Architectural Technician
RPS Planning & Development
August 2005 - August 2008
The primary focus of the job was the amendment of CAD Drawings. When the architect and the client decided on a change to the buildings design, or a change was necessary to bring the building in line with regulations, people like myself would implement the change on the AutoCAD drawings.
This position also entailed the creation of new drawings. These could be anything from internal elevations to kitchen layouts.
Another important aspect of the job was communication. When the drawings were completed at any stage, they would have to be sent to all of the relevant parties, in both hard copy and file formats that they were easily able to access.
