  • Lighting Supervisor

    Double Negative

    October 2019 - June 2021
    London, England, United Kingdom

Since 2019 I have been fortunate enough to grow into Lighting Supervision roles on a number of shows, the latest being Zack Snyder's Justice League. The role has involved a much broader overview of the creative and technical challenges facing the lighting department on a show level. It has also involved a much higher proportion of production side tasks, such as department bid days, crewing, targets and scheduling.

  • Lead Lighting TD

    Double Negative

    October 2017 - October 2019
    London, United Kingdom

Since October 2017 I have been working as a Lead artist involving constructing setups for other artists, higher level problem solving and workflows for the sequence rather than on a purely shot level and greater interaction with other departments.

  • CG Supervisor

    Double Negative

    August 2016 - December 2016
    London, United Kingdom

I worked as DnegTV's CG Supervisor on Sky's Lucky Man Series 2. I oversaw all 3D work including modelling, ldev and lighting for the second series. I also spent some time on set for a number of key 3D shots, to ensure all relevant on set data was captured including HDRI's and texture ref.

  • Senior Lighting TD

    Blue Zoo Productions

    March 2015 - June 2015
    London, United Kingdom
  • Lighting TD / Look Dev Artist

    Filmmore

    February 2015 - March 2015
    Amsterdam Area, Netherlands

As a lighting and look dev artist at Filmmore, I worked on upcoming feature film 'The Night of A Thousand Hours' creating several photoreal film sets that were used as rear-projected backdrops on set. The work involved a high amount of technical accuracy including matching camera positions, sensor settings and focal lengths to future on set cameras and using physically correct light temperatures, lumen output and camera exposure settings. However, it also required a lot of creative lighting in order to bring life and interest to still images.

  • Lead Lighting TD

    EGG Post Production

    June 2013 - December 2014
    Dublin

I was lead lighting td on the new Warner Brothers feature film, "Ghosthunters: On Icy Trails". There were a number of aspects to this role from creating master lighting shots for other lighters, to solving technical considerations on a day to day basis.

  • Modeller / Texture Artist

    SSVFX

    June 2013 - August 2013
    Dublin

I wokred for Screen scene on two projects, the fully CG ship in Sky's drama "Moonfleet" and on some CG buildings that were added to a matte painting for the Season 2 finale of BBC's "Ripper Street".

  • Barefoot

    May 2013 - June 2013
  • Modeller

    Barefoot VFX

    April 2013 - May 2013
    Manchester, United Kingdom

At Barefoot, I worked as a modeller for a sequence in a 'World of Tanks' game cinematic. My role was modelling all of the surrounding machinery and detritus in the factory shots. In addition I simulated the n-cloth chains that were part of the same shots.

  • Freelance 3D Generalist

    -

    January 2012 - March 2013
    UK

I was lucky enough to work on a number of high profile and entertaining projects during this time, including two six page, Maya based articles and video tutorials for 3D World Magazine discussing animation and modelling and a two page review of Autodesk's Maya 2013 new features.

I also worked with digital sculptor Glen Southern of Southern GFX in mainly generalist roles for clients including Sky Sports, Agusta Westland and more.

  • Modeller/VFXArtist

    SparkleVFX

    March 2011 - January 2012

Whilat at Sparkle VFX I was involved in projects with high profile clients such as Sky Sports, United Utilities and LimePictures. The work included:

Hard surface modelling, texturing, lighting and rendering.

Building some MEL based rigs, UI's, modelling tools as well as scene specific animation tools.

Dynamic simulation of smoke and flames with Maya's inbuilt fluid dynamics as well as utilising Maya's nParticle system to create effects such as sparks and debris.

It was a professional team based environment into which I brought new software capabilities. Often there were pipline issues and I was key in leading solutions and suggesting alternative workflows.

  • Junior 3D Artist

    Hurricane Films

    November 2010 - March 2011

I was employed at Hurricane Films primarily to work on the 360 degree immersive Beatles installation for the National Museums of Liverpool.

It involved creating 2.5D moves for photographs of the Beatles and Liverpool in the 1960s and a high proportion of Photoshop work in retouching the photographs and also using C4D's in built projection man.

Some other shots required modelling assets and animation in Cinema 4D and optimising scenes for a 6k wide render.
