October 2010 - Present
Manager, Virtual Choir
Eric Whitacre's Virtual Choir
I managed Eric's Virtual Choir 2 and 3. Responsibilities included creating systems to discover (VC2) or capture (VC3) user video, building a transcoding and grading backend, supporting singers and generally doing whatever it took to make the project happen. VC2 had 2052 videos, VC3 had 3746. Both were, at the time, the largest "proper" Virtual Choirs in the world (i.e. we used complete performances, not samples from each singer).
My final role at (Cardif) Pinnacle was "Innovation Director". I built and ran a small team of web and systems engineers (we were doing 'devops' long before it was a buzzword), and we had three primary functions: to develop e-commerce/e-service solutions for Pinnacle, to run our in-house ISP platform, and to co-ordinate IT security testing across the group. We functioned separately from the core IT team, providing a very useful degree of separation from normal IT projects.
