I'm a researcher, designer, and developer in IBM Research's Social Computing Group, where I've worked on technologies from mobile phones in the developing world to the Watson question-answer system. My personal research has focused on systems of innovation in environments of scarcity, which has resulted in projects like Makeshift Magazine and the book Making Do. I am a Sandboxer, aspiring global nomad, and advisor to various social innovation projects. I love all kinds of music and have toured in eight countries as a jazz trumpeter.
