We are seeking an animator who excels at creating character-rich, looping movements that complement the quirky, cute nature of our 3D characters and read clearly on screen.
You will be tackling a specific asset list, focusing on keyframe "dance" style idles, generic game actions, and environmental animations. Since many animations will be shared across multiple characters, a strong understanding of modular animation is essential.
Key Responsibilities & Animation Scope
You will be responsible for delivering the following animation sets
The Main Character Roster
- Keyframe Animate 13-15 short, looping "dance" style movements. These need to be modular, as they will be shared across our roster of unique character variations. The characters have been modeled with a hierarchy in mind, but some models may need some minor adjustments.
- Some breaking up of the model, setting origins etc., might be necessary to achieve the best results.
- Create 5 to 6 ‘generic action keyframe’ animation movements (e.g. selecting, scoring, entering/exiting the screen) that fit the bouncy, energetic vibe of the game.
The Environmental Animation & Characters
- Animation of some large human background characters moving around a small, constrained environment between a set of nodes. This can be via keyframe or bone animation.
- Our human characters will be programmed to walk from node to node, performing tasks along the way.
- Create perpetual/looping workstation animations for the characters using props to aid.
Qualifications
- Experience in 3D game animation,
- At least one shipped professional title.
- An impressive portfolio or demo reel showcasing character animation.
- Proficiency in Unity, with preferred 3D software (Maya, Blender, 3DS etc).
- An eye for timing, weight, and the bouncy, "squash-and-stretch" principles suited for a cute, family-friendly aesthetic.
- Ability to create seamless, natural-looking loops for both character idles and environmental background tasks.
- Experience implementing animations directly into Unity and working with programmers to set up animation controllers.
