Nuke or Flame Artist - NY

FotoKem Industries Inc. is seeking an experienced Nuke or Flame Artist to join our team in New York (only open to residents of New York). We’re looking for artists who are not only highly skilled in their craft, but also passionate about collaborating with others and supporting fellow team members. Must be nimble and able to work well in a fast-moving facility, juggling many episodic projects day-to-day. 


This position requires a thorough understanding and proven knowledge of Nuke or Flame as it relates to Visual Effects process workflows. This position is ideally suited for a highly motivated individual with experience with various hands-on production.  The Nuke or Flame Artist must be extremely organized and artistically driven, with the proven ability to manage multiple projects in various stages of process simultaneously. 


The Nuke or Flame Artist will report directly to the VFX Supervisor. 


Primary Responsibilities:

  • The bulk of our work includes, but is not limited to: blood, bullets/muzzle flash, screen/phone comps, set extensions, green screens, CG, general cleanup, fire, and weather enhancements. 
  • Abide by strict security for client’s intellectual property.
  • Ensure timeliness and technical accuracy of every client delivery.
  • Adjust work schedule, where necessary, and be open to nights, weekends, and travel work.
  • Other duties, as required and assigned.


Requirements


Experience and Skills:

  • Preferred minimum 3 years working in commercial or episodic. 
  • Advanced expertise in Nuke or Flame with a deep understanding of compositing workflows.
  • Strong working knowledge of 3D principles and techniques within Nuke.
  • Experience with Linux, Photoshop or mocha is a plus.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to proprietary tools and pipeline.
  • Capable of following templates, and keeps a tidy script.
  • Excellent artistic sensibility and attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex tasks into manageable components.
  • A collaborative mindset and clear communication skills.
  • Comfortable receiving direction and feedback, with a proactive and professional approach.
  • Proven ability to thrive in deadline-driven environments.
  • Post Production knowledge is required, including an understanding of acquisition formats, codecs and frame rates.
  • Must be punctual, reliable and able to work independently without constant supervision. Emphasis on following procedures diligently and follow-through on assigned tasks.
  • Able to work independently with little to no supervision, and capable of communicating technical issues with senior staff and supervisors.
  • Knowledge of Mac/Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Strong attention to detail, especially visually.
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal), and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

  • Temporary, project-based position for the current season.

Flame $90-125

Nuke $70-110
