Lookdev Supervisor

We’re looking for a Look Development Supervisor to lead the look of our projects — building on RSP’s strong legacy and driving clarity, consistency, and high craft standards across all assets.

This role has a strong shader lean, complementing the existing strengths of the team while providing clear creative and technical direction across look development overall.

The Role

• Define and uphold the visual standard for materials, textures and shaders across the show
• Develop hero looks and ensure they translate consistently across sequences and teams
• Actively manage and maintain workflows within the Department and integration within the RSP pipeline
• Lead the Look Dev team day-to-day: direction, feedback, prioritisation, and problem-solving
• Provide clear creative and technical guidance aligned with the CG and VFX Supervisors
• Partner closely with Lighting FX, Creature, and Comp to ensure continuity
• Anticipate challenges and align look dev solutions with production realities

Leadership Focus

• Set clear expectations around quality, consistency, and delivery
• Create a supportive, accountable team culture grounded in craft
• Mentor senior and mid-level artists, strengthening both artistic and technical capability
• Run reviews with clarity and confidence, offering actionable feedback
• Balance creative ambition with schedule and technical constraints
• Act as the central point of ownership for look dev decisions on the show

Key Skills & Experience

• Exceptional shader development skills and deep knowledge of physically based rendering
• Strong experience with Katana, Adobe Substance and Mari
• Exceptional shader development skills in Houdini
• Clear understanding of how look dev connects to the entire VFX pipeline
• Experience with production renderers
• Proven experience leading a team of VFX Artists on craft and creativity
• Experience with OSL and exposure to various coding languages
