Job Description

  • Following the animatic, work closely with the Director to produce animation that meets the creative quality and needs of the project
  • Guide & Supervisor Ink & Paint 2D hand-drawn animation in TVPaint following colour model sheets
  • As needed process hand drawn animation through texturising, smearing, offsetting and other processes
  • Provide extra material such as mattes for use by the Compositing Department
  • Assist in the building and maintaining of character palette files
  • Work closely with TD / Asst. TD (s) to complete assignments and meet your weekly quota and deadlines as assigned by the Production Crew
  • Provide comprehensive briefs for the DIP team detailing approaches and solutions to individual shots
  • Create & maintain a department guide as required
  • Ability to guide and provide clear / concise notes to the artists
  • Ensuring consistency and continuity per established artwork
  • Ensure the team complete any creative and technical revisions in addition to the quota
  • Adhering to the work flow structure of the project as requested by the TD / Asst. TD (s), including a clean and orderly delivery of assets 
  • Open to share with the team processes and assets that could help with continuity and productivity
  • To work cohesively within a team environment ensuring high levels of communication at all times
  • To work with relevant Production Coordinator/s to ensure the status of your work is known, allowing them to track the progression of assets
  • Lead and guide the team, alongside Production, in developing solutions if limitations of schedule are flagged as a possible issue.
  • Responsibility for Skills Development including but not limited to, working with the HR and production crew to identify skills development goals and ensure crew members are completing their learnings logs, ensure all skills development plans are completed within a timely manner, and fully signed off by the end of the training period.
  • To deliver technically clearly named and well layered files following established protocols
  • To attend departmental kick-off meetings and reviews as needed
  • Work according to the expected schedule
  • Address any problems and communicate progress of work to the TD / Asst. TD’s and Coordinator
  • Maintain effective communication with all crew members, ensuring as a senior member of the team, any feedback or issue raised is done so in a respectful, supportive and constructive manner.
  • Promote a good work ethic and positive atmosphere within the team
  • Assist in keeping information relation to the projects confidential and secure
  • Attend and contribute to relevant meetings and trainings as needed
  • Be available on Google Chat and by emails during working hours

Requirements

  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic artist with strong attention to detail
  • Previous Digital Ink & Paint Supervisor experience preferred but not essential 
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Ensure quality and style consistency with project
  • Ability to meet deadlines as established by production management
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise
  • Strong team player, capable of motivating and leading teams with enthusiasm
  • An ability to work collaboratively & efficiently in a fast paced quality driven team
  • Knowledge of asset tracking and database software (such as Shotgrid) is a distinct advantage
