Animation Director

We are looking for a CG Animation Director (Feature) on a freelance opportunity.

To ensure delivery of high-quality animation by directing the assigned animation teams, through artistic feedback, to enhance character performance and emotional arc within the schedule and defined project scope
Delivery: What you produce

- High quality, on schedule delivery of animation, within defined project scope
- On schedule notes turnaround
- Feedback from Director and Producer

Key Responsibilities
What you are regularly responsible for doing:
- Providing artistic feedback to Lead animators to enhance character performance and emotional arc, of the CG characters to meet expected quality
- Collaborating with the Director to create the highest quality Animation within the constraints of the project budget and schedule.
- Ensuring high quality standard is maintained throughout animation production.
- Writing scene by scene animation notes for each Sequence as required.
- Providing feedback on animation requirements during the development of the facial and character set-ups in collaboration with Rigging.
- Attending calls and Dailies with various stakeholders during animation production.
- Leading the Sequence animation launches with the animation teams
- Leading the Sequence animation team meetings
Key Requirements
Things that help you do your job (what is essential and what is desirable):
Knowledge:
- An expert animation sensibility, understanding of movement, timing, weight, anatomy, and acting
- An expert understanding of the animation processes in a CG production.
Experience:
- Several years of experience in an animation department for feature films or high-end episodic content, with prior supervisory or direction experience
- Experience in creatively leading various levels of crew and artistic staff.
- Proven ability to work effectively with all levels of production crew, artistic staff and management.
Technical skills:
- Previous in-depth knowledge of 3D software (e.g., Maya), and understanding of rigging requirements from an animation performance perspective.
