During the summer of 2003, I interned for the Office Design Group at Microsoft working on Microsoft Office 2007.

My responsibilities included:

Brainstorming ways Office 2007 and the yet-to-be-announced Microsoft Windows Vista could work better together

Sketching selected designs for review with the larger Office design team & Office users

Conducting interviews with test subjects on the merits and appeal of the selected ideas

Proposing finalized design concepts to the design group

We specialized in experience design for everyone from technology start-ups to high-end resorts and restaurants.

As a principal, I was deeply involved with every project we took on but I tended to spend most of my time on concepting & ideation, information architecture, interaction design, and web site development.

NetObjects Fusion was the first web development tool to focus the user on building sites, not pages and to do so without requiring the user to know any html. In what became commonplace thereafter, the NetObjects Fusion interface resembled a page layout application rather than a text editor; it then constructed the HTML for you based on your layout.

Working under co-founder Clement Mok, I designed major portions of the NetObjects Fusion interface versions 1.0 through 4.0 including everything from the interface architecture down to screens, dialog boxes,

This one day project produced by Rick Smolan, originator of the Day in the Life series, set about to document the ways in which the fledgling world wide web was changing people's lives.

I helped design and manage the flow at Mission Control whereby thousands of inbound images from all over the world could be received, categorized, edited and then matched with the stories being written in real time.
