I built Bartas Technologies from the ground up as an independent software developer. The list of titles grew to a collection of well-known and award-winning applications and plug-ins. I designed and maintain the web site, all icons, artwork, and marketing material, authored all user documentation, and directly support the end users of the software. I was originally hired to build SPICE – a Mac OS X bioinformatics data mining and visualization application for the Vaccine Research Center. I later took on the additional role of usability analyst and user interface designer for additional projects and acted as mentor to an intern seeking to learn Cocoa development. Built / maintained / expanded the IT infrastructure of various engineering firms as a full-time employee or consultant. Wrote the occasional software application or two. Custom-built servers (or customized pre-built servers to taste). Maintained telephony systems (primarily Meridian and NEC, some Executone). Experienced many platforms (various MS Windows flavors, several Unix flavors, several Linux flavors, Mac OS X / OS X Server, etc.).
