Having been freelancing for a few years I took a year out and decided to live and work in Leipzig, Germany for Spreadshirt. This was an exciting challenge not only on a personal level but also on a professional level. Working in a fast paced environment with a new language was tricky but was great fun. I was tasked with promoting their custom apparel to consumers. After a discussion with some of the team I was able to offer a social way of rebranding the company through a contest. http://olp.spreadshirt.net
Worked with teenagers and young adults (16 - 26 years old) in the East Belfast area who needed helping to get a start in life by gaining qualifications, people skills and work experience. Myself and 3 other leaders in this team lead and took 15 young people on an adventure week in Balintoy, Northern Ireland, helped them complete a community service project in which they were nominated for a local award and helped them gain work experience for two weeks in an area they wanted to work in.
Following a year as an intern I worked closely with the development team and I picked up enough web programming experience to be offered the role as a senior developer. Developing the front end requirements for their VLE.
