I am a member of a team of 4 developers who have built and maintain 12 websites in over 70 languages. This involves Sitecore, C#, XSLT and SQL Server.
The most recent work has seen a focus on optimising our XSLTs.
In 2011 our website was awarded Best Education Site by Sitecore/

For most of my term at RCSEd I was the main developer responsible for building and maintaining an internal exams and course management system, used by around 40 people throughout their entire working day.
This application was built using SQL Server, .NET web services and Visual Basic.NET.
I was also jointly responsible for maintaining the public website, and I was solely responsible for developing a web application to allow exam candidates to create and modify written case studies using an intuitive, javascript-led UI. This latter application was complet

V2A was a company that I started with a business partner. After being short-listed for the UK Department of Trade & Industry's Business Person of the Future award, we were granted funding and support from Scottish Enterprise.
Our selling point was MobilEyes, a unique method of viewing CCTV on mobile phones using our proprietary video trans-coding technique. V2A also acted as a consultancy within the public-space security video market. Our customers were mostly local authorities or police constabularies.

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) is Europe's leading programme helping businesses to improve their competitiveness and productivity through the better use of knowledge, technology and skills that reside within the UK knowledge base.
While working at Napier University (Professor Bill Buchanan was my supervisor and mentor) I developed a novel mobile application for a private company. In my second year I was short-listed for the DTI's Business Person of the Future award.

As a member of the Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) team, I was responsible for compiling electrical reliability statistics (diagnostic and prognostic) and maintenance plans for military avionic equipment.

I gained experience in broadband technologies - notably ADSL - while modelling the effect of bridged taps on performance.

October 1995 - October 1997
I started working for HMV as a Christmas temp and was then offered a permanent position.
Over 2 years I worked in various positions, starting out in the stock room and ending up as the head buyer. During this time my store was one of the highest-performing for the chain, frequently topping the list of 100+ stores.
I left this position to attend university, although I carried on working at the weekends for a further year.
